BERTIE WOOSTER
Personal Development / Character Design
This year I enrolled in a Character Design course run by Escape Studios and Pearson college London. Over the 8 week period, we were tasked with developing designs for a different literary character - Bertie Wooster from the P. G. Wodehouse ‘Jeeves and Wooster’ books.
Bertie is a wealthy and idle British Gentleman with a good heart but not much of a brain. His design needed to reflect his personality, his intelligence and his social position using visual tools such as shape language, posing, proportion and expression.
The design needed to communicate that Bertie is both pompous yet kind-hearted, clumsy yet stylish and outgoing yet unsure.
